Happy New Year!

Now that we’ve closed the book (pardon the pun) on 2013, it’s time once again for our Best of the “Best of” Lists List — an annual roundup of all the best “best books of 2013″ posts we’ve come across this year.

As usual, we have taken the liberty of loosely defining the the word “best” to mean “demonstrating exquisite taste by featuring one or more Eerdmans titles.” (What can we say? We are unabashedly fond of our books.)

If you happen to have included an Eerdmans book in your own “best of 2013″ list and you don’t see it here, please help us correct the oversight by leaving us a link in the comments.

Francis: A New World Pope

Gospel Writing: A Canonical Perspective
Francis Watson

“UK biblical scholar Watson’s latest may intimidate some with its intellectual heft, but it is an outstanding examination of the four canonical Gospels, a book for our time, recognizing ambiguities.”
