Gospel Writing

Gospel Writing: A Canonical Perspective

  • Two Eerdmans books made Library Journal‘s Best Books of 2013! First on the list was Michel Cool’s Francis: A New World Pope, “The book for Catholic and non-Catholic readers alike not only to learn about Jorge Maria Bergoglio, the Argentine-born Pope Francis, but to gain from Cool’s shrewd insights into vexing issues facing this new papacy and the church at large.” Also featured was Francis Watson’s Gospel Writing: A Canonical Perspective — “a deeply significant work.”
  • South African theologian Allan Boesak (Dear We Speak of Hope?), who now lives in Indianapolis, spoke to IndyStar last week about his friend Nelson Mandela. “He has created the ability in himself to rise above the tensions of race and class in South Africa. He has been able to unite the people in things that not many others could have done. . . . I think the outpouring of grief that you will see in South Africa in the next few days and weeks will be genuine.” Read the article and watch video of Boesak here.
