Welcome once again to Eerdmans All Over, a Friday roundup of all the Eerdmans-related news, reviews, interviews, and other interesting online content we can find in a given week.
News from Eerdmans . . .
- We posted the latest addition to our YouTube video library — an interview with Mark Goodacre on his new book Thomas and the Gospels — earlier this week. (Don’t have eight minutes to watch the whole thing? Don’t worry! Our two-minute book trailer featuring highlights from the interview will be available early next week.)
- We announced our five International Book Giving Day winners — and put out a request for suggestions of books to give away in the future.
. . . and elsewhere.
-
The United States Board on Books for Young People (USBBY) included three EBYR titles — Niki Daly’s The Herd Boy, Henrik Hovland and Torill Kove’s John Jensen Feels Different, and Anne de Graf’s Son of a Gun — on its 2013 Outstanding International Books List.
- John Witte Jr. (editor of the Emory University Studies in Law and Religion series) was a guest expert on NPR’s Talk of the Nation episode “Who Gets Religious Exemptions And Why.”
- Albert Mohler discussed Brian Brock and John Swinton’s Disability in the Christian Tradition and Gareth Lee Cockerill’s NICNT volume on The Epistle to the Hebrews in his 2012 Preaching Survey of the Year’s Best Books for Preachers. Mohler also included both Thomas Bergler’s The Juvenilization of American Christianity and D. A. Carson’s The Intolerance of Tolerance (new in paperback this month!) on his list of 10 Books Every Preacher Should Read. Justin Taylor blogged about the list on Between Two Worlds.
-
James D. Bratt (Abraham Kuyper and others) received Calvin College’s Presidential Award for Exemplary Teaching.
- Beth Stilborn discussed Cynthia Grady and Michele Wood’s I Lay My Stitches Down for Perfect Picture Book Friday.
- John Levison (Filled with the Spirit) encouraged Huff Post Religion readers to “Throw a Purim Party for Lent!“
- The Christian Century and the Thoughtful Christian teamed up to feature Ruth Everhart’s Chasing the Divine in the Holy Land in an email promoting Books for Lent and Easter.
- Jim West (Zwinglius Redivivus), Brian LePort (Near Emmaus), Christopher Skinner (Peje Iesous), and James McGrath (Exploring Our Matrix) all enjoyed our video interview with Mark Goodacre enough to share it on their own blogs.
