Gary Schmidt and Elizabeth Stickney will be at Eerdmans Bookstore tonight, September 13, at 7:00 p.m. to talk about their new book Acceptable Words: Prayers for the Writer, answer audience questions, sign books, and visit with readers.
Schmidt and Stickney will also be stopping by Schuler Books on Alpine Ave. in Grand Rapids next Tuesday, September 18, at 7:00 p.m. (details here) to sign books alongside their friend and fellow Eerdmans author William Vande Kopple (The Lure: Still More Stories of Family, Fishing, and Faith).
If geographical distance or a full calendar make it impossible for you to come out to one of these two events and meet these lovely authors in person, never fear!
You can read journalist Ann Byle’s great article on Acceptable Words in West Michigan Christian News, enjoy EerdWord guest posts by Elizabeth Stickney and William Vande Kopple, and check out our video interview with Schmidt and Stickney below.
Acceptable Words: Prayers for the Writer is a collection of ancient and contemporary poems and prayers that correspond with each stage of the writer’s work — from finding inspiration, to penning the first words, to “offering it to God” at completion. Editors Gary Schmidt and Elizabeth Stickney, experienced writers themselves, introduce each chapter of prayers with pithy pastoral reflections that will encourage writers in their craft.
