• Today from 9:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m. Eerdmans Bookstore is “Celebrating Educators and Young Readers.” They’re offering free books, bookmarks, posters, postcards, and discussion guides — as well as great deals for teachers, librarians, home schoolers, and other educators. Visit the bookstore’s Facebook event page for more information.
• Author Thomas Bergler (The Juvenilization of American Christianity) will be at Eerdmans Bookstore next Thursday, August 16, at 7:00 p.m. to give a talk, answer audience questions, and sign copies of his book.

• Garmann’s Summer was included in About.com’s “Best Children’s Picture Books About Starting School.”
• Booklist reviewed Addison Hodges Hart’s Taking Jesus at His Word: What Jesus Really Said in the Sermon on the Mount, calling it “thought-provoking, soul-searching work.”
• The Jewish Daily Forward examined the continuing legacy of the late Archbishop Jean-Marie Lustiger (author of The Promise) in the article “France’s Jewish Archbishop: Death of Jean-Marie Lustiger Still Weighs on Nation.”
• Nick Norelli received his copy of our Fall 2012 announcement catalog in the mail — and promptly posted a wishlist of “a dozen and a half books I’m interested in” on Rightly Dividing the Word of Truth.
• The I’m Your Neighbor website (dedicated to “reading projects that build bridges between new arrivals and long-term communities”) added a page last month filled with background information and teaching resources for using Karen Lynn Williams and Khadra Mohammed’s My Name is Sangoel in the classroom.
• Phillip Long at Reading Acts published blog posts this week on his “Top Five 1 Peter Commentaries,” “Top Five 2 Peter and Jude Commentaries,” and “Top Five 1, 2, 3 John Commentaries.” (Not too surprisingly, there’s at least one Eerdmans volume on each of these lists!)
• Donna Marie Merritt shared with us her blog review of Lee Bennett Hopkins and Stephen Alcorn’s Mary’s Song: “It’s not only Hopkins’s text that will captivate your heart. Alcorn’s illustrations look like they belong in a museum.”
• Clifford Kvidahl received his copy of Anthony Thiselton’s Hermeneutics in the mail this week — and blogged about it at Theological Musings.
