• Joining our sales team this week is new field sales manager Jesse Myers, who will be working with domestic distributors, international accounts, and select bookstores around the country. A native of Canada, Jesse comes to us with a B.A. in literature, an M.Div. from Providence Theological Seminary (Manitoba, Canada), and “most of a Ph.D.” (soon to be “all of a Ph.D.”) in moral theology from the National University of Ireland. Welcome, Jesse!

• Winners of the 2012 Catholic Press Awards have just been announced, and 10 Eerdmans titles have won awards or honors, with three books taking first place in their individual categories! We’ll devote more space to this exciting news here next week, but until then, check out the press release for more information.
• Standard-Examiner (Ogden, Utah) opinion editor Doug Gibson discussed Richard Mouw’s Talking with Mormons on his Political Surf blog, declaring that “Mouw’s advice is as much for Mormons and others as it is for evangelicals.” A link to this review also appeared on RealClearReligion Thursday.
• Publishers Weekly reviewed Claire Alexander’s Back to Front and Upside Down, calling Alexander “a caring and visually sumptuous storyteller.”
• Frank Viola posted an interview with James D. G. Dunn (author of Jesus, Paul, and the Gospels and various other Eerdmans titles) that ended with a tantalizing mention of two new books currently in progress.
• Roger E. Olsen reviewed D. A. Carson’s The Intolerance of Tolerance on his self-titled Patheos blog.
• Elizabeth Hunter reviewed Eileen Spinelli and Giuliano Ferri’s Jonah’s Whale for The Little Lutheran.
• Scot McKnight continued his Jesus Creed discussion on Thomas E. Bergler’s The Juvenilization of American Christianity with a post on “Slowing Down Juvenilization.”
• John Turner also responded to The Juvenilization of American Christianity in an Anxious Bench post entitled “Grow Up, Evangelicals (and everyone else, too!).”
• Tom Nelson reviewed John C. Knapp’s How the Church Fails Businesspeople on his Work Matters blog.
• The Working Prototype blog also posted a four-part series reflecting on John C. Knapp’s How the Church Fails Businesspeople. Read parts one, two, three, and four.
• Central Woodward Christian Church in Troy, Michigan, announced that Amos Yong will be the speaker at its third annual Perry Gresham Bible Lectures. Yong will speak on the topic of his recent book The Bible, Disability, and the Church: A New Vision for the People of God.
• Alan Middleton reviewed Ronald J. Allen’s Reading the New Testament for the First Time on his Alan’s Eyes and Ears blog, calling it “a very readable introduction.”
• Michael W. Austin (Being Good: Christian Virtues for Everyday Life) contributed a post on Humility to the Psychology Today Ethics for Everyone series.
• Lynn Garrett’s Publishers Weekly story “More Religion Publishers Join Exhibitors at ALA” included a paragraph on EBYR’s activity at the show (and a link to PW’s starred review of The Fantastic Jungles of Henri Rousseau).
